Project #438: The deck.
It's about 40 years old. It's too bad it was neglected for so long before we got here. Unfortunately the decay accelerated rather quickly in the last year while we were focused on other projects around the house. There was only one thing to do...

Immediately after removal of the top layer, the dogs began excavating the site by digging. We found an ancient coin and a light saber, obviously from a long long time ago.

I also went camping with the pops. My parents own a few acres in the Ozarks of Missouri near the Current River. It's far from civilization and nicely remote.





It's a four/five hour ride. The journey spans the flats of Illinois to the rolling mountains of Missouri. The road slowly degrades the closer we get. We started out on semi-well groomed 4 lane highways and had everything in between that and driving through bushes on what was once a path to the camp site before one flood too many.
