I'm going to give up apologizing for my long pauses between posts. Hey, I'm a busy guy. Give me a break......I sure do need it. Work and work at home boil to a froth more and more lately. But, I will share with you a little of my doings that have transpired...

Yes, the roof. It is done. Thank the roof gods. Waking up at 6:00 am to pounding above your head was getting a little old. But the work crew were nice and we gave them a cooler of beer on their last day. Such a lovely shade of blue-gray, too.

Now, it's all up to me. I'm charged with replacing soffits and reinforcing rotted rafter tails in order to put up the new fascias. I'm up to my neck in 2x6's, 1x4's and 2x8's. Lots of arm-cutting-up action, boy howdy.

It's not been all work and toil, though. We met up with Tim and other friends at Cafe Kanichiwa for their closing weekend celebration. The Newcastle had run dry, only one Red Stripe was left but wonderfully the Guinness was still flowing, albeit lukewarm. Hopefully Kanichiwa will open back up soon at a less crime-ridden locale.

Grant was in town on leave for the 4th weekend from Fort Riley. We had a great time hanging out and watching some Rifftrax. We met up with him and the rest of ~H~'s family out at Lake (Septic) Springfield to show Leah her first fireworks. The booms didn't even phase her. Such a trooper.

OK, back to work. Because of our shitty roof, water leaked in and started to warp our laminate floor in the kitchen/dining room. Now I had the fun, and not so easy, chore of ripping up the soaked chunks and replacing them. Weeeeeee. As you can see, ~H~ gives her two cents on the whole affair in the pic above.

And finally, how can I sit at a computer and blog when this beautiful creature wants my attention?
